Hi there!
My name is Aline Kaori and I am a freelance lettering artist, calligrapher, and type designer based in São Paulo, Brazil. My custom letters have helped brands such as Budweiser, Vivo, Natura, and Tiffany&Co connect with their audience in an unique, personal way.
Driven by my love for the letter arts, since 2013 I have been fully dedicated to the study and practice of typography, lettering, and calligraphy—under masters and teachers such as John Stevens, Julian Waters, Ale Paul, Fiona Ross, Martina Flor, Luca Barcellona, Cláudio Gil, and many more.
Mentored by Marcos Mello and Claudio Rocha, I’ve also worked at Oficina Tipográfica São Paulo (OTSP) for two years, where I nurtured my love for typography and letterpress printing.
Extremely grateful for the learning opportunities I‘ve had, and wishing to pass this knowledge forward, I have also been teaching workshops on calligraphy and lettering since 2016, and offering consultation and feedback on letter arts or type driven projects. I am happy to say that my very first typeface, Pitaya Italic, was selected for the Tipos Latinos Biennial in 2018. The Pitaya family is currently a work in progress and will be soon released under the Positype Flourish label.
